Live Video Calls on Psychics.com let you connect with Members face-to-face through two-way video sessions or one-way Insight Calls.
This guide explains everything you need to know to set up your camera, get notified of calls, and manage your live sessions successfully.
Step 1: Make Sure You’re Set Up for Live Video Calls
To go available for Live Video Calls, you must have all of the following ready:
- Camera and Microphone Enabled:
Your camera and microphone must be enabled in the browser you’re currently using.
See our browser setup guides for step-by-step instructions for Chrome, Safari, Safari on iPhones and iPads, Firefox, Firefox on Android, Microsoft Edge, and Samsung Internet on Android. - Push Notifications Added:
You must have at least one device set up for push notifications under Menu → Notifications → Email Notifications.
Push notifications alert you instantly when a Member requests a Live Video Call — you don’t have to sit at your desktop waiting.
For setup instructions, click here.
If you use an iPhone or iPad, push notifications may not be reliable. Be sure to enable SMS notifications from the Video Call Settings Page. - Set Your Call Prices:
You only need to set prices for the call types you wish to accept:- Two-Way Video Calls: Both you and the Member are on camera.
- Insight Calls: Only the Member’s camera is visible during the session.
Step 2: Going Available for Live Video Calls
Once you’ve completed setup:
- Switch your status to “Available for Live Video Calls” using the icons at the top of your dashboard.
- The video camera icon is for two-way calls.
- The eye icon is for one-way Insight Calls.
- Your profile will now display a “Video Call with Me” button that Members can use to request a session.
Step 3: Receiving a Video Call
- When a Member requests a Live Video Call, you’ll receive a site notification or SMS notification (set in your Video Call Settings).
- iOS users should always select SMS notifications for reliability.
- You don’t need to wait at your computer — simply respond when you receive the alert.
Step 4: Joining the Call
- Click the notification to join the Live Video Call. You have 90 seconds to accept before it expires.
- Two-Way Video Calls: Your camera and microphone automatically turn on when you join.
- Insight (One-Way) Calls: Your camera will be off, and your microphone will be on. The Member’s camera will be on but can be turned off at their discretion.
If the Member disables their camera, the call becomes a voice-only session.
Note:
You cannot manually turn off your camera or microphone during a regular two-way call. To leave, click “End Call.”
Step 5: Ending the Call
- If possible, let the Member end the call.
- If you need to disconnect, click “End Call” on your screen.
Tips for Success
- Test your camera, microphone, and notifications before going available.
- Respond quickly to call requests to maintain a high availability rating.
- Ensure your internet connection is strong for the best video quality.
